Alpha Maps?

Hi.

I like playing around with GD very much - I often use the exported maps in Octane (and also in Lumion) for the planets - but
in my opinion the alpha maps don't work as they should...
I've rendered a planet with rings and exported the RGB rendering and the alpla-png as well but when I open the PNG (mask) it's just a greyscale PNG and photoshop doesn't show any alpha channels so it's not possible to get a proper cutout of the rings.
Is this a bug or is it just me doing somethin wrong?

Sorry for the late reply, It was quite busy this week.
You are probably writing the transparency on the wrong part of the exported map. In the Edit->Options->Channels tab you will find the list of exported texture for a given export preset. To export the rings with the alpha, in the RGB channels column you should put "Albedo rings" and in the Alpha channels column you should put "alpha rings".
If you put the alpha rings in the RGB column, you can do it, but it will be the transparency that will be saved as color, so you'll have a greyscale texture.

I hope this will help, cheers ...
